Housing Society Supports Building Maintenance Grant Scheme
for Elderly Owners
The
Hong Kong Housing Society welcomes Government's new initiative
to help elderly owners in maintaining their homes.
The Building
Maintenance Grant Scheme for Elderly Owners announced by
the Financial Secretary in his Budget Speech today falls
in line with the objectives of the Building Management and
Maintenance Scheme (BMMS) launched by the Housing Society
in 2005 to address the problem of urban decay. The new Grant
Scheme will help the elderly owners who have financial difficulties
to carry out repair and maintenance works to improve the
safety and quality of their living environment.
The Housing
Society will accept the invitation by the Government to
act as the agent for implementing the Scheme and will work
closely with the Government to ensure highest effectiveness.
In the
meantime, the Housing Society will work out the implementation
details in collaboration with the Development Bureau to
be announced in due course.
