  • Hong Kong’s ageing population continues to generate strong demand for housing facilities catering to senior residents. The Housing Society remains resolute in providing innovative housing solutions and related services to address the needs of an ageing population.

  • Elderly Resources Centre
  • Established in 2005, the Elderly Resources Centre (“ERC”), is dedicated to the advancement of the Age-friendly Home (“AFH”) development. Our efforts focus on four main areas, namely Resources, Innovation, Training, and Education.

    The Living Lab in Gerontechnology for Age-Friendly Home has engaged approximately 300 Covengers and ambassadors to test possible solutions from our collaborators in a co-creation and co-design process
  • Intergenerational Harmony
    The Housing Society puts emphasis on “intergenerational harmony” to create inclusive and sustainable communities.
    • Incorporated the concept of intergenerational harmony across residential designs, community spaces to pioneering commercial ventures
    • Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The PolyU-NAMI 3D Concrete Robotic Printing Research Centre to jointly explore the innovative application of 3D concrete printing technology and upcycled concrete materials for constructing intergenerational play spaces in Jat Min Chuen

    • Set up the Intergenerational Volunteer Team at Ka Wai Chuen, comprising young parents and children who conduct regular home visits and engaging activities with the elderly tenants

    • Organised a Dancing Movement programme across 9 rental housing estates to promote intergenerational harmony, active ageing, and healthy lifestyles

Sustainable Communities

    • Served 33,000+ rental estate tenants
    • 470+ partners and collaborators (since 2014)
    • Provided regular support to 911 Elderly Persons’ Flat households
    • Established 20 Mutual Support Networks
    • Trained 1,600+ tenants as core volunteers
  • Housing Projects in the Pipeline
    • 20+ projects in the pipeline, and the flat production in the coming five years 17,000+ subsidised units

Community Investment

  • Supporting Industry Development and Community Initiatives
    • Invested HK$2.1+ million in financial and promotional support to industry partners, academic institutions, philanthropic organisations, and green groups
    • The HKHS Award has benefitted 1,600+ outstanding students with scholarships and bursaries totalling nearly HK$12 million since its inception
