(iii) Interest rate risk

The Housing Society’s exposure on cash flow interest rate

risk and fair value interest rate risk mainly arises from its

loans receivable and time deposits.

As the time deposits usually mature within one year, the

exposure is considered not material. Management of the

Housing Society monitors the interest rate profile of loans

receivable regularly.

Sensitivity analysis

At the end of the reporting period, it is assumed that a

general increase/decrease of 50 basis points (2015: 50

basis points) in interest rates, with all other variables held

constant, would have increased/decreased the Housing

Society’s surplus by approximately HK$56.0 million

(2015: HK$24.4 million).

(d) Financial assets and liabilities measured at fair value

Fair value hierarchy

The following table presents the fair value of the Housing

Society’s financial assets and liabilities measured at the end of

the reporting period on a recurring basis, categorised into the

three-level fair value hierarchy as defined in HKFRS 13,

. The level into which a fair value

measurement is classified is determined with reference to the

observability and significance of the inputs used in the

valuation technique as follows:

Level 1 valuations: Fair value measured using only Level

1 inputs, i.e. unadjusted quoted prices in active markets

for identical assets or liabilities at the measurement date.
