Enhancing Safety for Working in Confined Spaces
PMD organised a safety training course on confined spaces operations for Venue Management
Personnel, designed to enhance the safety knowledge among frontline workers, including on-
site managing officers, technicians, and building supervisors. Led by a trainer from the OSHC, the
programme comprised of two training sessions with 60 participants in total. The training aimed
to address safety concerns and ensure compliance with the Labour Department’s revised Code
of Practice , which was introduced in response to previous accidents. The curriculum covered
essential topics such as legal requirements for confined space work, stakeholder responsibilities,
the implementation of safe working systems, hazards of confined space operations, and emergency
response arrangements.
Additionally, our maintenance contractors at our estates have installed video surveillance systems
to enable the standby personnel outside the confined space to monitor situations and promptly call
for rescue when necessary. We have also reviewed safety practices and term contracts for water
tank cleaning in both rental estates and most managed properties under PMD, ensuring effective
implementation and compliance with the updated safety requirements.
