For more than 60 years, we have been actively engaged in the
provision of affordable housing for the people of Hong Kong.
Today, with Hong Kong’s rapidly ageing demographics, the scope
of our activities has broadened to include housing for the elderly,
particularly in our rental estates where over one third of our
tenants are now above the age of 60.
During the review period, while we focused on
providing housing and related services for the elderly,
we have continued with the redevelopment of our
older rental estates, and the development of urban
renewal projects and subsidised sale flats. We are
specially pleased to see further progress being made
with our Ageing-in-Place (AIP) scheme that offers
favourable solutions for Hong Kong’s increasingly
elderly population.
On the other hand, demand for our new quality elderly
project, The Tanner Hill, was less than expected as a
result of the weakening economy during the latter half
of the review period. However, we believe that the
market for this kind of housing remains intact and look
forward to renewed interest in The Tanner Hill as it
fills a need that has not yet been met.
