Environmental Programmes in Property Management

The Housing Society was awarded an Honorary
Certificate for its support to the Chinese New
Year Peach Blossoms Recycling Campaign 2014
organised by the Hong Kong Environmental
Protection Association and Environmental Protection
Department. Through the Campaign, peach
blossoms were recycled as bituminous wood and
fertiliser. Seven Housing Society estates were also
awarded Appreciation Certificates.

Three pilot estates participated in the "Eat wise, Waste
less" campaign of "World Environment Day" organised by
the Environmental Campaign Committee and successfully
reduced 11% of food waste in 2014. Since then, "Food
Waste Recovery Pilot Scheme" has been continuously
implemented in our rental estates and managed
properties. Food waste recycling bins were displayed
at the Estates/Property Management Offices to show
how food waste could be usefully turned into fertiliser for
gardening.

Housing Society estates and managed
properties participated in the "Power
Smart Energy Saving Contest" organised
by Friends of the Earth (HK) in 2013
and 2014 which fostered good habits in
energy saving. Besides, 28 estates and
managed properties also took part in the
"Earth Hour", an energy-saving activity
organised by World Wide Fund For
Nature Hong Kong.
