Elderly Housing and Care

As with The Tanner Hill, we have agreed with the HKMC to extend the

Reverse Mortgage Programme to the middle-income elderly home

owners wishing to lease SEN flats.

Ageing in Place in Rental Estates

In its 2016 Policy Address, Government stated that ‘ageing in place’

was at the core of its policy on the elderly with ‘institutional care as

the back-up’. The aim of this policy is to promote elderly well-being

and avoid premature institutionalisation.

In line with this policy, we launched our Ageing-in-Place (AIP) scheme

in 2012 at Cho Yiu Chuen as a pilot project. The scheme is based on

intervention to prevent early and gradual decline of the elderly to

achieve independent living.

Our approach involves three areas of support, namely housing

support for building a safe and elderly-friendly community, social

support for building on strong neighbourhood relationships and a

volunteer network, and healthcare support for promoting health

based on shared responsibility and partnerships with Government,

NGOs and academia.
