Happiness
Many elderly people, especially those living alone, suffer from
depression and social seclusion. Through the social caring activities
and mental health programmes we organise in collaboration with
social services agencies, we are able to help seniors lead happier
and more integrated lives in the community. According to The
University of Hong Kong study, our elderly tenants reported that
depressive moods have been reduced by 9% as compared with an
increase of 48% among the seniors of the control estate as a result
of our service.
Abled Brain
An abled brain is critical for independent living in estate among
the elderly. To enhance the cognitive performance of our elderly
residents, we work with NGOs to conduct mental health assessments,
talks, training and exercise programmes, all of which have produced
noticeable improvements.
Since piloting our AIP scheme in 2012, we have been progressively
extending it across our entire portfolio of rental estates. In 2015/16,
we added three more rental estates for a total of 14 covered under
our AIP scheme, and we intend to roll it out to all 20 of our estates
by 2016/17.
