We also operate the Building Maintenance Grant Scheme for Elderly
Owners to assist those who have difficulties in meeting repair costs for
the buildings they live in. So far, 9,880 grants have been made since the
Scheme came into being in 2008.
In conjunction with URA, we implement the Operation Building Bright
launched by Government to assist in building maintenance projects
undertaken by owners of private buildings. While Government contributes
the largest share of fund, we administer the applications and offer
professional advice and technical help on request. So far, 2,770 buildings
have been covered.
As part of the new Urban Renewal Strategy, the building rehabilitation
role of the Housing Society is to be progressively taken over by URA.
Last year, responsibilities for urban Kowloon, Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing
under the Integrated Building Maintenance Assistance Scheme were
handed over to URA in April 2013.
