Housing Society Staff at Joyous Circle Tests Positive for COVID-19

The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) was notified that a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member concerned is an assistant cook at the Joyous Circle, a residential care home for the elderly at The Tanner Hill in North Point. His day-to-day duties did not require direct contact with the residents nor the public. He has been wearing facial masks and following relevant disease prevention measures during work.

The staff member concerned was notified of the preliminary positive test result yesterday (10 December) by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health while performing duties. HKHS immediately followed up by conducting thorough cleaning and disinfection at his workplaces and related staff facilities, and notified all the residents and their families.

During the epidemic, HKHS has implemented a range of anti-epidemic measures, including flexible working arrangements for staff, mandatory temperature checks at workplaces, the stepping up of cleaning and disinfection of various workplaces, video conferencing in place of face-to-face meeting, and staff are reminded to maintain social distancing and pay attention to personal hygiene and submit health declarations where necessary. HKHS will continue to maintain close liaison with the CHP and complement each other on the anti-epidemic measures, as well as to provide appropriate support to staff.
