75th Anniversary

2023 is a special year for the Housing Society, as it marks the 75th anniversary of the organisation. In order to share the joy with our tenants and other stakeholders, we have organised a wide range of activities under the theme of “Creating Homes for Sustainable Living” throughout the year. Highlights include shopping promotion campaign for our tenants and staff; visual arts programme and ESG programme for community engagement; roving exhibitions across the territory; an international conference on the future vision of creating sustainable communities for multi-generations; as well as the 75th Anniversary Cocktail Reception.

Shopping Promotion Campaign
All residential tenants and staff of HKHS are given a set of cash coupons in the sum of HK$100 for use at our commercial tenants who are participating in the campaign. (Press Release)

“Art in Estates” Visual Arts Programme
HKHS launches the “Art in Estates” - Visual Arts Programme in its rental estates, to share the joy with the residents and the general public in celebration of its 75th anniversary. The Programme beautifies the open space of the estates, while being a happy gathering occasion for the residents and their families.

75th Anniversary Cocktail Reception
A cocktail reception in celebration of HKHS 75th Anniversary is held on 17 April 2023.

International Conference
An International Conference with the theme “A Vision for the Future: Liveable Communities for Sustainable Living of Multi-Generations” is held on 17 April 2023, with the participation of experts from different regions to share their insights on multi-generational community, innovations for housing and ESG for the housing sector. Deputy Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government Mr Michael Wong is the Guest-of-Honour.

Roving Exhibitions across the Territory
The Roving Exhibitions feature the work of the Housing Society since 1948 and the housing scenes in Hong Kong over the past decades. Details are as follows:

Community ESG Programme
This Community ESG Programme takes place from 1 July to 31 December 2023. Through gamification on the mobile app Zero2, all tenants of HKHS rental estates are encouraged to develop a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, as their green actions are digitised. All participants will get “rewards” for completing "missions" to reduce carbon emissions, which can be redeemed for various discounts on spending and fabulous prizes.
Starting from July 2023
Community Engagement Activities
An educational board game is designed to educate the younger generation about the housing development in Hong Kong and the role of Housing Society as a “housing laboratory”.  An exhibition booth at the Hong Kong Book Fair has been organised, and an extended school outreach programme will be hosted to further engage the public.

5th Anniversary Activities of the HKHS Exhibition Centre
The HKHS exhibition centre opened in December 2018. Apart from displaying useful information and historical exhibits of HKHS, the centre serves as a platform for teaching about housing development and other learning experiences for the students in Hong Kong. Entering its 5th year of service, the exhibition centre will be renovated to serve the public with a brand new face.
