The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) is deeply concerned about and saddened by the industrial accident happened at its Anderson Road Quarry Site R2-2 at about 10:45am today (7 September), and extends its deepest condolences and compassion to the victims and their families.  HKHS will provide a lump sum grant of HK$300,000 to the family of each deceased worker, while the family of each injured worker will be offered HK$100,000 as an immediate assistance.

HKHS is following up closely the incident with the main contractor, Aggressive Construction Company Limited, and will render full assistance to facilitate the investigation of relevant Government departments.  Construction works at the concerned site have been suspended immediately.  HKHS Director (Projects) Franki Yeung visited the site in the afternoon to look into the situation.  In view of the incident, HKHS has instructed all contractors undertaking HKHS’s projects to conduct comprehensive checks of similar tower cranes to ensure safe operation.
