HKHS Clinches Three Prestigious ESG Awards for Excellence in Creating Inclusive and Smart Communities
The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) is committed to integrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and sustainable development principles into the core operations across its various business, striving to serve the community by creating quality homes and fostering a sustainable living environment. For three years in a row, HKHS has received commendation from Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) and Master Insight (MI) for its outstanding ESG performance, which are solid proof of HKHS’s commitment and achievements made in ESG and sustainability.
Fulfilling the role of a “housing laboratory”, HKHS has adopted smart technologies to enhance the quality of housing and services, as well as management and operational efficiency. In recent years, HKHS has also embraced the concept of “intergenerational solidarity” in its business holistically, from housing production, property management, commercial leasing, to community and elderly services, striving to create inclusive and smart living environments for people of all ages as underscored by its commitment to enhancing residents’ well-being.
For the second consecutive year, HKHS garnered the “ESG Social Innovative Technology Award” and the “ESG Environmental Innovative Technology Award” at the TVB ESG Awards 2025, recognising HKHS’s pioneering role in promoting sustainability and inclusive community. The commended initiatives include introducing Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) collaboration centres to revolutionise site culture and workers’ well-being, piloting the application of Hydrogen Fuel Cell System in construction project, establishing Hong Kong’s first Smart-Space PropTech co-working space, and implementing smart estate management by applying Internet of Things (IoT) technology for operational efficiency and safety enhancement.
At an earlier time, HKHS was honoured with the “ESG High Recognition Award” in the “MI x HSU ESG Award” co-organised by MI and the Research Centre for ESG at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, for its excellence in pursing sustainable development and its outstanding performance in sustainable innovation.
HKHS set up a cross-divisional Sustainability Working Group in 2022 and identified six relevant United Nations Sustainability Development Goals as the foundation of formulating a comprehensive sustainability strategy guided by three strategic pillars, namely “Sustainable Homes”, “Low-carbon Transformation”, and “Future-fit Capabilities”. Performance indicators for sustainability have also been established, serving as the guiding principles for all divisions in advancing sustainability through cohesive and coordinated actions.
