Housing Society’s Property Management Team Harvests an Array of Honours for People-centric and Quality Services
The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) remains committed to providing professional and quality property management services for residents, and its pledge to excellence has received industry-wide recognitions. Recently, HKHS’s rental estates and Subsidised Sale Flats (SSF) projects garnered 10 awards at the “Excellence in Facility Management Award (EFMA) 2025” organised by The Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management (HKIFM). Furthermore, two HKHS staff members were honoured by the Office of The Ombudsman with The Ombudsman’s Awards 2025 for Officers of Public Organisations.
HKHS Director (Property Management) Sanford Poon said, “The Housing Society team embraces a ‘people-centric’ philosophy in its pursuit of excellence and is committed to serving our residents with great dedication. It is our honour to be awarded for our professional and meticulous services yet again, with accolades including a total of 10 awards at the reputable ‘EFMA 2025’ this year and commendations from the Office of The Ombudsman for six consecutive years. In the years to come, the Housing Society will continue to dedicate our resources on smart technology application for building smart and well-being communities for our residents with quality and up-to-speed services.”
HKHS’s SSF projects and rental estates attained exceptional achievement with a total of 10 awards at the “EFMA 2025” organised by HKIFM, demonstrating HKHS’s well-recognised professional and quality property management services in the industry. Among them, Prosperous Garden received the top-tier Grand Award for the “Excellence in Facility Management Award (Subsidised Sales Housing Category)” for its unique integrated community, that equipped with the HKHS Exhibition Centre and the Elderly Resources Centre to promote cultural and community integration. Greenhill Villa was awarded the second-tier Distinction Award. Both projects also won a Silver Award for the “Theme Award on Embracing ESG in Facility Management”. Separately, the team of Prosperous Garden also clinched the Bronze Award at the “Outstanding Professional Integrity Award”.
As for the rental estates, HKHS’s Kwun Lung Lau and Lai Tak Tsuen won the highest recognition of Gold Award for the “Theme Award on Embracing ESG in Facility Management”, for introducing a series of smart estate management initiatives to promote sustainable development, including smart vacuum cleaners, AI Concierge and drones for building facades inspection, and more. Both projects also received the Distinction Award for the “Excellence in Facility Management Award (Public Rental Housing Category)”. HKHS Manager (Property Management) Lam Hing-tat, Billy, received the Silver Award for “Facility Management People Award”, for his professional and outstanding performance in managing the daily operations and tenancy management of Lai Tak Tsuen.
Moreover, HKHS was honoured by The Ombudsman’s Awards for six years in a row. HKHS Senior Manager (Property Management) Cheuk Sze-man, Sandy, who received The Ombudsman’s Award 2025 for Officers of Public Organisations, is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, property and tenancy management of two rental estates, a dedicated rehousing estate and a T-Home project. She has always been demonstrating positive attitude in handling property management issues. In following up a 25-month-long civil litigation in the Small Claims Tribunal between HKHS and a tenant, Ms Cheuk communicated with the tenant with listening ears and provided elaboration with great patience. By offering a flexible alternative solution in the case, she successful brought the case to an end through mediation, creating a win-win situation for the tenant and HKHS, which ultimately earned her the appreciation and compliment from the tenant.
Another awardee, HKHS Officer (Property Management) Sum Wai-hang, Ryan, has joined HKHS for two years. He is responsible for supporting the daily operations of Wah Mei Lau of Kwun Tong Garden Estate, with duties covering security, environmental hygiene, maintenance, and the handling of resident inquiries and complaints, and more. His dedication to service is best demonstrated in the way he handled a case involving an elderly singleton who piled up sundry items inside the flat. Mr Sum persistently showed his care to the tenants and looked for solutions with positive approach. He proactively coordinated HKHS’s internal resources to line up appropriate housing and health support for the tenant. He demonstrated his professionalism with a “people-centric” mind, leading to a satisfactory resolution of the case. Mr Sum received a commendation letter from the tenant, who also expressed gratitude to the HKHS team for their assistance in getting over the past struggles in life.
Organised by the HKIFM, the “EFMA” is one of the most estimable facility management awards in Hong Kong. It aims to promote the facility management professionalism and recognise those who contribute to the delivery of quality services in the industry.
The Ombudsman’s Awards was introduced in 1997 by the Office of The Ombudsman to recognise government departments and public organisations for maintaining professional standards in handling complaints. In 1999, the Awards was extended to honour individual public officers who have consistently made significant contributions to improving public services and fostering a positive complaint culture in the public sector.
