HKHS Clinches Two Accolades at HKIS Awards
Driving Intergenerational Harmony and Smart Management Through Forward Planning and Technological Innovation

The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) has recently clinched two prestigious accolades at the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) Awards 2026. Among the two awards received, Casa Sierra, HKHS’s first Dedicated Rehousing Estate (DRE) project, was honoured with the Silver Award in the “Planning & Development” category, and its rental estate Kwun Lung Lau was a finalist in the “Property Facilities Management & Maintenance” category.

Casa Sierra, the project that won the Silver Award, adopts a mixed development model providing rental units, Subsidised Sale Flats and Senior Citizen Residence Scheme units within one single site. It also stood tall as the first construction project in Hong Kong to attain the “Elderly-friendly Building” Certification. The development integrates a wide range of elderly-friendly designs and facilities across its residential units, common areas and the retail premises. The features include slip resistant floor finishes in the bathrooms of all units, step-free or threshold-free access at major public access routes and “Artificial Intelligence (AI) Concierge” in the shopping mall, and more. Casa Sierra has become a new model of sustainable, intergenerational and smart community, catering to the housing and daily needs of people of all ages.

Moreover, Kwun Lung Lau, serving as a pilot rental estate for “Intergenerational Smart Community” initiatives, was recognised as a finalist in the “Property Facilities Management & Maintenance” category. A number of pioneering application of innovative technologies has been implemented in the estate, including the Internet of Things (IoT), AI, and robotics across different operations such as routine estate patrols, facility risk management and control, and energy consumption management. Through the adoption of smart property management, HKHS has successfully enhanced operational and management efficiency, revitalising traditional rental estates into safer and more resilient smart communities.

“Surveying for Innovative Solutions” is the theme of the biennial Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors Awards this year, that commends the contributions of professional surveyors to industry advancement and the development of society.
