Housing Society Staff Tests Positive for COVID-19

The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) has just been notified that a staff member was tested positive for COVID-19.  The staff member is an Assistant Manager working in the office of the Maintenance Section of Property Management Division at 1st Floor of Heya Star in Cheung Sha Wan, and the office concerned is not open to the public.  Duties of the staff member concerned are of an administrative nature and do not require direct contact with the residents or the public, and the last date of attendance in office was 14 December.  The staff member has been wearing face mask and following relevant disease prevention measures during work.

The staff member concerned was notified of the preliminary positive test result yesterday (18 December) by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health.  As a precautionary measure, the office has been closed for thorough cleaning and disinfection, and will not be opened until 28 December.  Three co-workers including the staff member's supervisor and two colleagues sitting next had undergone a Covid-19 test and the results are negative. HKHS will continue to maintain close liaison with the CHP, working in compliance with the anti-epidemic measures stipulated by the CHP, while rendering appropriate assistance to staff.

During the epidemic, HKHS has implemented a range of anti-epidemic measures, including flexible working arrangements for staff, mandatory temperature checks at office entrances, the stepping up of cleaning and disinfection of various workplaces, video conferencing in place of face-to-face meeting, and staff are reminded to maintain social distancing and pay attention to personal hygiene and submit health declarations where necessary.
