"T-Home" at Ming Wah Dai Ha Set to Open for Applications

The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) announced that the "T-Home" at Ming Wah Dai Ha would accept applications during the period from 23 September 2021 to 6 October 2021 from eligible families on the waiting list of public rental housing.

Completed in the 1960s, Ming Wah Dai Ha in Shau Kei Wan is currently under redevelopment and its Block A to E, which falls under the third phase of the redevelopment scheme, is expected to be redeveloped in 2028.  As such, HKHS has ceased allocating the vacant units in these blocks (except transfer within estate) while renovating them into transitional housing to provide about 200 "T-home" units for applications from two-person to four-person families who have been on the waiting list of public rental housing for three years or more.  Following the first batch of over 100 "T-home" units, more units will be available for use as "T-home" during the course of decanting.

HKHS Chief Executive Officer James Chan said, "Further to the 'T-home' at Yue Kwong Chuen, Kwun Tong Garden Estate and Chun Seen Mei Chuen, we again leverage the housing units in rental estates pending redevelopment to provide transitional housing.  The strategy of utilising existing units for transitional housing could avoid construction work, thereby housing resources can be optimised to help provide improved living environment for low-income families in a more timely manner."

Upon acceptance of the flat assigned, applicants will be required to sign the Monthly Licence.  The first batch of licensees is expected to move in by the fourth quarter this year.  All applicants will only be offered one single chance of flat allocation.  If the applicant refuses the offer, or fails to attend the flat allocation procedures, the application will be cancelled.
