The Housing Society has recently conducted a survey to gather the opinion of the tenants on its policy and management services. A total of 1,253 households were interviewed. According to the City University professor who conducted the survey, the response rate of over 87 per cent is highly satisfactory.
Living Environment
According to the survey, the tenants are satisfied with the living environment, public order and safety, hygiene, property management and parking facilities of the estates. They felt that the installation of CCTV in elevators has helped to reduce crime rates and suggested to place more garbage cans in public areas and to reschedule garbage collection times.
HKHS Services
Over 90 per cent of the respondents gave an above average rating to property management service, staff attitude and efficiency. About half gave seven to eight point ratings in a ten point scale. Ratings from tenants who moved into the estates in recent years are relatively higher.
Rental Policies
About 95 per cent of the respondents gave an above average rating to the Housing Society's policies, and 52 per cent gave seven point and above ratings. One of the interesting findings is that, about one-third of the tenants are in favour of home visits by management staff as they prefer face-to-face dialogues.
In the course of the interviews, the tenants expressed their views on the terms of the tenancy, the inheritance policy, their desire for homeownership and rent adjustment. According to the survey, the tenants are of the opinion that assessments should be carried out before the granting of inheritance and favour existing tenancy arrangement, repairs and maintenance services.
The Housing Society will study the results of the survey to further improve its standard of service and to cope with future developments.
